Gender Equality and Human Rights

Gender equality is not a women’s issue. It is a universal, social, political and economic issue that concerns all societies. 

Gender equality wants a society where men and women share equally in goods, responsibilities and rights in all areas: work, politics, leadership, leisure, care, family and personal life. 
However, substantive equality remains an ongoing issue. Greece follows the strategic axes of the European Strategy for Gender Equality and the imperatives of the Council of Europe Convention on Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence (Istanbul Convention), which are reflected in the new National Action Plan for Gender Equality 2021-2025.
