Allowances

The Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, through the competent Directorate of Disability Policies of Welfare, has drawn up and supervises the implementation of 9 Financial Support programs for Persons with Disabilities (PWD). These programs cover all categories of disability (motor, mental, sensory). The programs are implemented in the context of the supplementary and complementary character of Welfare, in relation to the benefits of the insurance funds and depending on the type and degree of disability, the insurance status etc.Until 12-31-2018 these Programs were implemented by the Municipalities of the country, while from 1-1-2019 this responsibility has been taken over by the Organization of Welfare Benefits and Social Solidarity (OPEKA).

FINANCIAL SUPPORT PROGRAM FOR PEOPLE WITH SERIOUS AND SEVERE MENTAL RETARDATION As long as they do not receive, for the same reason, directly or indirectly, any financial support in any form from their insurance company or other domestic or foreign body, or if they receive financial support in any form up to the amount of €29.35 per month, or if they receive for the same cause from their insurance company or other domestic or foreign financial aid in any form greater than €29.35 and up to an amount equal to the lower disability (basic) pension of the OGA as it is adjusted each time 527€ a)People with Severe or Heavy Mental Retardation, with a disability rate of 80% or more (P.A. ≥ 80%) and an IQ of 34 or less (D.N. ≤ 34) b) people with Down syndrome or other genetic syndromes of the chromosome, accompanied by severe or severe mental retardation and with a disability rate of 80% or more (PA ≥ 80%) c) people with autism spectrum disorder or pervasive developmental disorder or autism or Asperger’s syndrome, with a disability rate of 80% or more (PA ≥ 80%).
QUADRIPLEGIC – PARAPLEGIC – AMUTUPED Uninsured or State insured quadriplegics – paraplegics – amputees 771€ a) Quadriplegics – paraplegics if they have a disability rate of 67% or moreb) People suffering from diseases that have caused disability of the same degree – 67% or more – and of the same form – quadriplegia, paraplegia – due to irreversible damage to the spinal cord or roots or nerves or muscles (Law 2646/ 1998) * The above categories also include people whose opinions indicate the terms tetraparesis – paraparesis c) Amputees with a disability rate of 67% or more resulting from amputation
HEMATOLOGICAL DISEASES – AIDS Sufferers of Mediterranean anemia AIDS – Haemophilia 362€   697€ a) People with Mediterranean anemia, thalassemia, hemoglobinopathy, sickle cell anemia – homozygous sickle cell anemia – micro sickle cell anemia. For all the above diseases, a disability rate of 67% or more is required. b) People with hemophilia A, hemophilia B, congenital bleeding disorders. For all the above ailments, a disability rate of 50% or more is required. c) People with Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) with a disability rate of 50% or more
DEAFNESS – HEARING LOSS 362€ a) People with deafness – hearing loss with a disability rate of 67% or more, aged up to 18 years, as well as those over 65 years old.b) People with deafness – hearing loss with a disability rate of 67% or more, aged 19 – 65 years, who suffer simultaneously with deafness – hearing loss and from another chronic physical, mental or mental condition or damage. c) People with deafness – hearing loss with a disability rate of 67% or more, from 19 to 25 years old, who attend schools, lower, middle or higher technical or vocational schools or OAED schools or higher or higher education institutions or vocational training units etc.
BLINDNESS – VISUAL DISABILITY – Employees – Retired – Working students – Graduate employees– Unemployed uninsured – Directly insured unemployed – Indirectly insured – Non-working students – Blind children who do not attend schools or are accommodated in boarding schools of the KEAT or the Thessalonica Branch – Blind children who attend schools or are accommodated in boarding schools of the KEAT or the Annex of Thessalonica – Practicing lawyers – University-level scientists who, according to their degree, practice their science – Lawyers who are proven to practice law 362€697€ People whose visual disability is certified – vision disability with a disability rate of 80% or more
BRAIN PARALYSIS 697€ People with cerebral palsy up to 18 years of age
HANSENICIANS -Leprosy patients who are treated as inpatients at the Attica Chronic Diseases Hospital THXPA – The dependent family members of the leprosy patient (spouse, parents, unmarried sisters, minor siblings or those who cannot work due to disability or illness and are financially supported by him) and for as long as he is hospitalized at the Attica Chronic Disease Hospital (THCHPA)-His minor children -Those with Hansen’s disease who are hospitalized at home and are away from work due to the disease – Those who have recovered from Hansen’s disease, who were discharged from the Attica Chronic Diseases Hospital or from the former Athens Public Hospital for Infectious Diseases or from the former Center for Infectious Diseases of Athens of Social Rehabilitation of Leprosy, regardless of the time of their stay in them or whether they remain in their family environment 362€697€ Infectious Diseases Hospital of Athens (D.N.L.N.A.) or the former Center for Social Rehabilitation of Leprosy Patients (K.K.A.X.) – in case of incapacity for work due to illness or disability, medical opinion of .USA or of the D.N.L.N.A.. or the K.K.A.X., in which it is stated that due to illness or disability he cannot work – certificate of hospitalization (for dependent members) or discharge (for minor children) or certified photocopies of these from the T.X.P.A. or D.N.L.N.A. or K.K.A.X. – tax clearance certificate and insurance booklet showing the dependency on the leprosy patient
MOVE ALLOWANCE 165€ a) People with amputation of both lower limbs with a disability rate of 80% or moreb) People with amputation of both upper limbs 80% or morec) People with paralysis of the two lower limbs 80% or more
ALLOWANCE FOR KIDNEY DISEASES-TRANSPLANTS 362€ 1)Kidney patients who are in the last stage of chronic kidney failure. 2) Heart, liver, lung and bone marrow transplant recipients. 3) Those who have undergone a multi-visceral transplant, as well as those who have undergone a transplant of at least one of the following organs: stomach, spleen, pancreas, pancreatic islets, intestine (large or small), liver, kidney, heart and lungs
